Historical background of the Tashkent Medical Academy.

The Tashkent Medical Academy was founded as the Tashkent Medical Institute on the basis of the Medical Faculty of the Central Asian University in Tashkent (founded in 1919), specializing in the training of certified specialists – doctors of basic medical specialties, pharmacologists and hygienists.

In the early 1990s, two higher medical educational institutions were established on the basis of several buildings of the Tashkent Medical Institute: the First Tashkent State Medical Institute and the Second Tashkent State Medical Institute, the merger of which in 2005 formed the Tashkent Medical Academy.

Currently, the Academy has a medical, medical-pedagogical, medical-prophylactic, medical-biological, military medical and faculty of higher nursing, which are training more than 4,000 students.

Undergraduates are trained by 48 directions, and narrow-profile doctors are trained by 38 directionsthrough clinical residency.

The main clinical bases are 3 multidisciplinary university clinics of the Tashkent Medical Academy, as well as Republican specialized scientific and practical medical centers, republican and city medical centers and hospitals of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan (more than 80 medical institutions).

Today, the Tashkent Medical Academy is the leading medical educational institution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, №1 in the Rating of the best medical universities of the country and 6th among all the universities of Uzbekistan.

The teaching staff of the Academy consists of highly qualified specialists who meet international standards, regularly raise their qualifications and improve their professional skills in leading foreign medical institutions.

The development of international cooperation in the field of medical education and science is one of the priorities of the Tashkent Medical Academy.

Within the framework of international cooperation, the Academy actively develops scientific and practical relations with leading foreign medical educational and treatment-and-prophylactic institutions in various areas of health care, conducts joint medical scientific events, participates in international projects, invites leading foreign professors to Uzbekistan to organize joint educational activities.

Every year, the most talented students, winners of international scholarships and awards, winners of international competitions and active youth representatives become students of the Tashkent Medical Academy.

The great attention of the Tashkent Medical Academy is directed to the training of comprehensively developed medical professionals.

In the Academy created and functions:

– Profile medical courses, participation in which gives the opportunity to students-future doctors to increase the level of knowledge of the relevant medical profile;

– Information resource center, created on the basis of the oldest medical library in the region of Central Asia and one of the largest medical information databases of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

– A sports complex that meets international Olympic standards;

– Student campus, equipped with everything necessary for the fruitful training of future doctors;

– as well as the Medical Museum, Typography, Wi-Fi zones and places for self-preparation, adapted for comfortable self-study of students.

The Interuniversity Research Laboratory and the Joint Research Center, established at the Tashkent Medical Academy, are unique institutions that provide effective integration between education and science, contributing to the improvement of the quality of scientific research, the active involvement of students in scientific research and the widespread introduction of scientific results into the educational process and medical practice.
